Moses Commands Obedience

1“And now, O Israel, listen to athe statutes and the rules
Or just decrees; also verses 5, 8, 14, 45
that I am teaching you, and do them, cthat you may live, and go in and take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your fathers, is giving you.

Deuteronomy 5:1

The Ten Commandments

1And Moses summoned all Israel and said to them, “Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the rules that I speak in your hearing today, and you shall learn them and be careful to do them.

Deuteronomy 6:3

3Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them, that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, das the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

Deuteronomy 30:12-14

12 eIt is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend to heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ 13Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ 14But the word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it.

Ezekiel 20:11

11 fI gave them my statutes and made known to them my rules, gby which, if a person does them, he shall live.

Ezekiel 33:30-33

30“As for you, hson of man, iyour people who talk together about you by the walls and at the doors of the houses, say to one another, each to his brother, ‘Come, and hear what the word is that comes from the Lord.’ 31 jAnd they come to you as people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear what you say but they will not do it; for kwith lustful talk in their mouths they act; their heart is set on their gain. 32And behold, you are to them like one who sings lustful songs with a beautiful voice and lplays

well on an instrument, for nthey hear what you say, but they will not do it.
33 oWhen this comes—and come it will!— pthen they will know that a prophet has been among them.”

Matthew 7:21-27

I Never Knew You

21 qNot everyone who rsays to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will senter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who tdoes the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 uOn that day vmany will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not wprophesy in your name, and cast out demons xin your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 yAnd then will I declare to them, ‘I znever knew you; aadepart from me, abyou workers of lawlessness.’

Build Your House on the Rock

24 acEveryone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like ada wise man who built his house on the rock. 25And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like aea foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

Romans 2:25

25For circumcision indeed is of value afif you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.
